Three steps on the way to your own food blogger business:
1. Find your niche. As is well known, the first step is always the hardest and that is also possible if you want to become a food blogger. You need a niche! Ask yourself what you want to specialize in. That could be pasta recipes, for example, or French cuisine. Every niche has its fans – find yours!
2. Find your food blog name. Once you’ve found a niche, think about what your new blog should be called. This name should then also be your domain name (the name of your website).
3. Cook what it takes. Especially at the beginning, it is an advantage if you have a few recipes in stock. This is also the opportunity to give you some thought about your future categories.

Find a web host & register a domain
In order for your recipes to be found online, they have to be saved somewhere. This is done by providers with whom you can take out a hosting package. Most of the packages already include the cost of a domain.
Once you have decided on a hosting package and registered your domain, the food blog can finally start. First, you need blogging software, or rather a CMS. My recommendation here is clearly WordPress. I don’t recommend this CMS because it feels like everyone is doing it today and because it’s probably really the most popular CMS for blogs – I recommend WordPress because it had been tested and widely used by many current food bloggers. You can also find support for installing and setting up WordPress from their support center.
The theme (design) for your food blog
I am often asked what is the best or the right theme for a food blog. This question cannot really be answered at all, because the selection of the topic is always a very personal decision. Why? Very easily!
With WordPress, the theme is primarily responsible for the look (design) of your blog. So personal taste decides here. In addition, themes now also have various functions.
The question arises for free or not. If you want to blog professionally, I definitely recommend a professional theme. These are programmed cleaner and leaner and are constantly being further developed. I myself use DIVI on most of my blogs, which at 89 euros per year is certainly one of the more expensive products on the market. I can use it on all my websites with this one license. You can find a large selection of professional themes, not just for food bloggers, on ThemeForest. Under the keyword “Food” you can find themes from $ 27.
Important plugins if you want to become a food blogger
Plugins provide your WordPress blog with additional functions. Many are important, some are very useful, but not everything has to be. When choosing your plugins, limit yourself to what you actually need. Too many plugins make your website unnecessarily slow.
SEO Plugin by YOAST. The first choice when it comes to the search engine friendly optimization of your blog posts is YOAST. Even in the free version (which in my opinion is completely sufficient), the plugin supports you in optimizing your blog posts as best as possible so that they are later on Google and co. can easily be found. Of course there is a lot more to SEO, but this plugin is a very good basis.
